CEDAR RIDGE ESTATES, LAKE ARROWHEAD, CA....A PIECE OF HEAVEN IN THE MOUNTAINS

Lake Arrowhead is special in so many ways. We're a small community. We're only a few miles from the city below, though it feels like a world away. We have a superior school district.  We have homes that meet all lifestyles, prices and situations; from full-time to part-time, and cabins to castles.

One of my favorite "Neighborhoods" is what I consider Lake Arrowhead's diamond. I remember when my family first moved here in 1991, how we accidentally came across this area while taking a drive on a quiet Sunday afternoon. It was a fairly new development. In fact, there was a local Realtor sitting near the front gates, with his card table set up, trying to sale vacant lots. So we drove around this area and it immediately became an all time favorite of mine. A very special community right here in my own backyard.

Cedar Ridge Estates is a stunning gated-community that sits perched above Lake Arrowhead, yet only a stone's throw to the lake and to Lake Arrowhead Village. All of the elegant homes behind these gates are custom and beautifully constructed by some of the countries finest builders. Entrance to CEDAR RIDGE ESTATES is off Cumberland Dr.

The lots these exquisite homes are built on are large and lush with cedars and pines..and private. Most parcels are at least ¾ acre or more, nearly level or gently sloped. You'll generally have plenty of space to build your dream home back from the street, leaving you with a long, winding or circular driveway.....and Privacy.

Lake Arrowhead is a private lake and like all properties within the Arrowhead Woods (lake rights) boundaries, as is  Cedar Ridge Estates, it gives people the right to join ALA (ARROWHEAD LAKE ASSOCIATION) which then gives them the permission to use the lake. Living within Arrowhead Woods, property owners must be responsible and follow certain rules and regulations set by ARROWHEAD WOODS ARCHITECTURAL COMMITTEE. These rules are mainly set forth to protect our trees/forest.

GARAGE SALE WEEKEND in LAKE ARROWHEAD on LABOR DAY WEEKEND, 2008

(This is an updated post from Memorial Day).

Twice a year, Lake Arrowhead and surrounding mountain communities have "Garage Sale Weekend." We have one on Memorial Weekendand one on Labor Day Weekend. This past Memorial Weekend, we got RAINED out, which was unusual.   But the weather-people are predicting that this WEEKEND is going to be fabulous!

In our mountain communities, having GARAGE SALES these two weekends (and any other for that matter) gives the full-time and part-time mountain residents a chance to clean out, clear out, declutter and make a few bucks. Since 50% of our home-owners are "weekenders," this is PERFECT for them. Especially IF they are selling their cabin/home. Instead of packing up unwanted pieces of furniture and other household items, they can help someone else who has purchased a place and is looking to furnish it without buying all new furnishings or having to haul it up here. DID I mention RECYCLING?  Garage Sales really are the BEST way to recycle.

Here are a few tips that may help you have a successfulGarage Sale. 

  1. ADVERTISE--in your local newspaper, You Tube, Craigslist 
  2. SIGNSdirecting people to your sale. Put on your creative hat: whatever you use (cardboard, etc)Write BIG, BOLD and CLEAR.  Include: date, time and address. Use directional arrows >>>>. (Make sure it is okay to put up signs in your area) 
  3. CLEAN/WASH/WIPE DOWN items for sale. They'll look better and sell faster.
  4. PRICE ITEMS THE NIGHT BEFORE; use stick-on labels, A bright COLOR is good.
  5. SET UP ITEMS in some orderly fashion: Shoes in one spot, dishes is another, clothing in another, etc.
  6. WAIST HIGH tables--Make it easy for YOUR customers to check out the goodies. Bending and crawling around on the ground, just isn't that much fun. Clothing should be on hangers and hanging at eye-level.
  7. GO TO THE BANK and get $100 worth of change: ones, fives, tens and coins.
  8. SET UP A TABLEwhere customers can come and pay for items. KEEP jewelry here and other small valuables.
  9. WEAR a fanny pack;  This can be your CASH REGISTER
  10. THINK LIKE A STORE OWNER.
  11. Most important...HAVE FUN!!!!
